How to Restick LED Lights

Like most homeowners, you’ve probably replaced your old incandescent or fluorescent bulbs with LEDs. But did you know that these lights can lose their stickiness over time? Like most modern gadgets, LEDs lack quality control and can gradually become less reliable over time. So what do you do if your LED lights fall off the ceiling? Here are three quick and simple steps to get them back up!

Steps

1) Clean the area where the light will be placed with a damp rag or toothbrush. This makes for a better seal when the adhesive strip steps in to work its magic.

2) Take a new sheet of adhesive strip and peel a piece half an inch wide from the roll. This is the longest one you’ll need since the light has to stick above the ceiling. Place it on your ceiling in whatever way will make it easiest to stick down.

3) Take your LED light, remove the black cap from the back, and position it against your adhesive strip so that there is no air between them. If you are careful about installing this LED bulb, you can use both hands to press down on it while drying it out with a paper towel or tissue.

4) Add another piece of adhesive strip to this assembly and reattach your LED light. Turn this on to ensure you haven’t missed any spots in the sticky stuff! If it still doesn’t stick, take another piece and try again. Eventually, you’ll get it to stay up there.

5) Finally when the light is in place and secure, remove the clear cap from the back of your LED bulb so it can light up properly.

6) You’re done! The LED light can now rest in its new position and no longer needs to be hooked to a power source. However, if you want to make the bulb last even longer, let it get warm first by turning it on for a few minutes and then off. They tend to lose their stickiness over time after getting warm.

7) If your LED lights are not sticking on the ceiling, try cleaning the walls with an adhesive remover spray instead of using a paper towel or tissue. This allows you to remove any clean dust that’s accumulated before sticking to your sticky stuff. But, again, letting this light dry out satisfied before using it will remain stuck.

Factors

When you want to restick LED lights, the main factors you should consider are the strip length and the adhesive. This is because strips that are too long will be too heavy, and you will have to make some adjustments to make them lighter. You can either cut the strips or change the adhesive. Another factor to consider is the speed of the glue that you use. While super glue works quickly, it is not as strong as industrial adhesives and may not last as long.

Moreover, removing the strips is difficult when glued to the surface is difficult. If you use an industrial-strength adhesive, you must remove them carefully. Otherwise, you will damage the strip.

Adhesives

Masking Tape

Superglue
