The phrase pleasure is all mine, sometimes said after experiencing an act of kindness or receiving an honour, has been around forever. But what exactly does the phrase mean? The dictionary definition may be vague, and the saying may seem simple. Still, the pleasure that the phrase describes can be interpreted in many different ways based on what kind of person you are and how you choose to live your life.

To better understand the phrase’s meaning, it’s important to note how different people interpret it based on their own past experiences and present situations.

To me, pleasure is all mine means that I can do whatever I want to myself and not worry about getting in trouble for it. It also means I don’t need to please someone else because my pleasure comes first.

I can live out any fantasy without worrying about what anyone thinks or says when I’m alone.

When a person does something just for themselves, they are being self-centred. The pleasure is all mine means that when you’re doing something you enjoy without consideration of others, you are acting selfishly and being self-centred.

In our society, it’s often expected that we put other people’s needs before our own. Still, this phrase reminds us how important self-care is.

You deserve your time too. Self-care isn’t only indulging in your favourite food or beverage; it’s anything that makes you feel good, from reading a book to taking a long bath. You should prioritize yourself too! So if you have an idea or thought of something that makes you happy, go ahead and do it.

And if there’s something you’ve wanted to try, why not go for it? Who knows? It might be exactly what you were looking for. So if you’re thinking about trying something new, don’t let fear stop you.

Your mind will always come up with a million reasons why not so take control of those thoughts and make it happen. Do things that are just for you, and if you enjoy them enough, share them with others but don’t give up on yourself. Don’t let fear keep you from living life to the fullest–you deserve it as much as anyone else.

What would be the point of living if we can’t enjoy ourselves? I find it selfish to go through life denying oneself any pleasure.

So many things in this world make us happy, and it’s our responsibility to get as much as possible out of it. So It’s not selfish to derive pleasure from anything and everything.

Life is too short not to. If you feel guilty about what you’re doing, remind yourself that you’re doing it for your enjoyment. If other people have a problem with what you’re doing, they will tell you.

The only person who should care about how much enjoyment you take in life is yourself. No one has the right to tell you how to live your life because no one knows better than you. And there’s nothing wrong with spending time taking care of oneself.

One of my favourite things is buying myself gifts, like clothes or jewellery. It feels good knowing I’m treating myself well enough to buy something nice. Sometimes I’ll pick up something minor, like a chocolate bar or new nail polish colour.

That way, when I want it later on but don’t have money for it yet, I still have the option without feeling deprived. When it comes to food, I always order dessert – even if I’m full.

What does pleasure is all mine mean?
