Iron (III) Bromide<\/a> is a smalless red-brown color utilized as an acid catalyst for Lewis’s halogenation process of aromatic compounds. It dissolves in water and forms an acidic liquid.<\/span><\/p>\n

Iron (III) Bromide is an inorganic chemical compound of bromine and iron with the chemical formula FeBr3. It is a dark black or brown crystalline solid that is extremely water-soluble and has many uses in research and industry. The iron (III) Bromide can be created through reactions of bromine and iron or with hydrogen bromide. However, the most commonly used preparation method is that of iron oxide and iron hydroxide hydrobromic acid. The reaction can be described in the following manner:<\/span><\/p>\n

Fe2O3 + 6HBr – 2FeBr3 + 3H2O<\/span><\/p>\n

Iron filings could also react with bromine gas in the presence of catalysts such as aluminum chloride. The reaction can be described in the following manner:<\/span><\/p>\n
